I disagree with that quite a lot. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the Royal Family although I think Queenie upholds the office very well.
I don't say it shouldn't ever be got rid of, rather that it wants a lot thinking about. The Monarchy doesn't have any power, but as long as it seems to be necessary to have a head of state, it provides a neutral and safe solution.
It's not just banana republics who have trouble with heads of state appropriating powers and oppressing their citizens. I can think of at least 3 nuclear-armed states in which the head of state and effective dictator has subverted the constitution to remain in power, not including N. Korea. Xi and Putin have both done so and remain in power to the dismay of many of their people. Pakistan is the other one I had in mind, where it has happened at least a couple of times.
I'd like my HoS to remain 100% ceremonial, especially considering the breathtaking shamelessness and dishonesty of the current most senior elected representative.
