There are millions of people in this country who will watch or read about, anything to do with
the royal family, every TV programme, or newspaper article is aimed, at least partly, at them.
There are millions more who are quietly pro royal, respecting the service many of them perform, and appreciating much of what many of them do. These people see the dysfunctional elements for what they are, people corrupted by money, power and a vast overestimate of their own importance. They are a fairly minor distraction from the real work of the royal family and its role representing the country and an alternative to some elected head of state. These people will stand for the national anthem, or a minute silence yesterday and will take an interest in significant events like funerals of a major member of the royal family. I am one of them, I did not watch several hours of the funeral yesterday but I have looked at some bits of it since.
