That's because players get picked depending on what team they play for - i.e. any player who is English and plays for a fahsionable "successful" club in the "big four" is an automatic pick.
There are better players who would make a better team, but they seldom get a look in until transfered to a "glamorous" club. In my ever so humble.
I've supported Scotland all my life, but my little boy is really into England now so we'll be cheering for them (and Serbia, he is half Serb after all).
FB is right, we (Scotland) know we're rubbish and have no expectations, we just enjoy the party when we're fortunate enough to qualify. Quite a contrast to the usual pride-before-the-fall of the England team and its followers.
