Yes, all pots and pans go in. Sometimes just those and a "quick wash", then the plates on the next wash. If the saucepan is upside down at the bottom then it will stop some of the water from the lower spinny thing getting to the top, evidently, so I try to put them in sideways at a slight angle to allow them to drain. Sometimes this can be achieved by putting a small mug or something just in the right place for it to rest on.
I hate washing up manually so much that it is a requirement of a holiday cottage that it has a dishwasher. If it doesn't, it's off the list. I'm not spending a week's holiday with my hands in cold yucky water every day. I can swim in the sea if I want that (no fear).
