Another curious phenomenon is the way actors seem to age faster than real people.
For example, I remember when Peter O'Toole was the young Lawrence of Arabia. Now whenever I see him interviewed he looks ancient, and is probably 80 something. How come someone who was once "my age" has now become decades older?
The answer of course is that I first knew him in what was even then an old film, portraying a younger man. So he wasn't really as young as he seemed.
But it still feels odd the way these people keep flying past me in age.
May be the secret of preventing ageing is to keep watching older and older films, and take comfort from the fact that they are all dead, and I, being so much younger, am still alive.
