 Wasp removal - Bobby
When I was up getting cases out the loft I heard wasps and saw a nest hanging from the roof. Called wasp man out who went up to loft sprayed a foam around it and then (I think) systematically removed the nest bit by bit. He sealed the loft hatch with tape as the blighters that were left were rather angry and there was a slight gap on the hatch.
Day before we went on holiday I realised there was still wasp activity on the roof on the extension side ( different loft separated by a gable wall)
So he has came out today and accessed this one from outside and said that it was a biggie and has basically sprayed a load of insecticide through the access areas in the roof.
When I asked do they not physically remove the wasps nest he said when it wasn’t as accessible then this is what they do. He said the nest is basically paper and over time it will just degrade.

I know nothing about wasps nest but thinking surely you would want the nest and dead wasps removed from your loft area? Not sure if I have used a chancer, though he comes well recommended, or whether this is normal?

We had a wasp nest - got a man in as it was huge. He treated it and a week later I went to take it out of the loft. The nest was a biggie - too big for a black bin sack - cut it in half and it almost filled two sacks.

To kill wasps in awkward place locate where the wasps come in and out of the loft area.
Ant Killer powder - spray lots into hole/space.

The powder sticks to the wasp as it goes in - it goes into the nest and Bingo all the wasps will all perish.

Plenty powder at all ins/outs - success for us many times.

Not really. If it’s difficult to remove just leave where is. It will do no harm. If you do choose to remove it take close look at the structure. It is a miracle of insect engineering!

Obviously you don’t want a wasps nest in your house but if you discover a nest in somewhere that can be left undisturbed until the end of the summer do just that. Wasps do fulfil a vital function - they are actually more important pollinators than bees.

There was one in bike shed in early summer/late spring - it was small enough (with full H&S and PPE precaution). Knocked it off the wall with a very long stick and sprayed it with wasp nest killer spray....and then stamped on it...
