A strong showing from Alfa Romeo, although small numbers compared to the likes of Ford, VW etc.

Do the like of Cadillac even have any showrooms still in UK?

I'm sure I have seen a few new registered Dodge Journey things?

Also surprised that Mitsubishi outsell Subaru at nearly 4:1. Would the L200 account for this or is that classed as commercial?

How many actual car companies are on that list? About three? I've long since lost track of who owns who and which bits are shared etc...

As of 2011, Fiat owns 53% of Chrysler

Which is where you can lay the blame for those hideous looking chrysler badged Lancias, that will be hitting a street near you soon.

I think Tata now owns Land Rover and Jaguar.

A few corrections/additions:

- Ferrari does not own Masserati anymore - it was transferred to Alfa Romeo
- Ford obviously no longer owns Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin or Volvo.
- Ford offloaded some (all?) of their shares in Mazda - no longer has a controlling stake.
- VW AG owns about 19% of Suzuki
- About 33% of VW AG is owned by Porsche - it was until recently and the full merger has yet to happen
- GM does not own SAAB and they no longer have a stake in FIAT.
- FIAT owns a big chunk of Chrysler now.
- Daimler Chrysler is no more. That broke up a while back.

Toyota owns 7.8% of Subaru. Daihatsu, a subsidiary of Toyota, own a majority stake in Perodua.
The VW relationship with Suzuki has soured over promised levels of investment in Suzuki not being forthcoming - resulting in Suzuki trying to force VW to give up its 19% shareholding.
Fiat owns 58.5% of Chrysler.
Ford still owns about 8% of Aston Martin.
VW owns 49.9% of Porsche.

>> Ford still owns about 8% of Aston Martin.
Didn't know that.

>> VW owns 49.9% of Porsche.
and Porsche about 33% of VW AG. They were meant to merge to sort out the mess Porsche created when they tried to buy VW a few years ago. At one point they pushed the share price for VW to around £1000 whilst the trades that were made were unwound so to speak.

Slightly off topic, but Daimler do own a large proportion of EADS - owners of Airbus.

How many Private sales are employees buying their own car and claim monthly allowance & Mileage............almost a company car as if you do a reasonable business mileage and are careful you can buy a car & the way you drive "The Company" can provide you with Cheap or nearly Free Motoring.
Some Interesting 2011 Car Sales Statistics 2011 - Bill Payer
>> How many Private sales are employees buying their own car and claim monthly allowance &
>> Mileage......

You'd think it would be a fair number, but then company car sales should drop and they're apparently fairly constant.
Some Interesting 2011 Car Sales Statistics 2011 - RattleandSmoke
If it wasn't for the fact I could claim so much back I am not sure if I would have spent so much on a car. Although my car was a private sale I do refer it as it being an asset of the company. E.g it is a business car.
 Some Interesting 2011 Car Sales Statistics 2011 - rtj70
So if the car belongs to your company and you drive it for private miles - you have to pay tax on the benefit in kind. Sounds like you're bending the rules a bit.

Or are you saying you charge a fixed amount per mile for the business stuff and the car is owned by you.

This is all probably different when a sole trader? But if the business is funding the car and you use it privately isn't that a benefit?
Some Interesting 2011 Car Sales Statistics 2011 - RattleandSmoke
The car is legally my own personal car, for social justification it is a business car. I work out the personal and business miles and claim a proportionate level expenses according to the business miles I do. It is usually around 70% business.

On the personal miles I don't claim a penny.
Some Interesting 2011 Car Sales Statistics 2011 - Boxsterboy
I thought HMRC rules only allowed a private car owner to claim 40 pence per mile of business use?
Some Interesting 2011 Car Sales Statistics 2011 - RattleandSmoke
No you can claim a proportion of costs. There is two different ways of doing it.
