Todays papers (Mail) are trumpeting the "s how of strength" on the Thames during the security rehearsal. The Terrorists must be in hysterics, half a dozen boats, a helicopter, and a few dozen Royal Marines and Police. A pathetic show of force if that is meant to defend the multitude of Olympic venues throughout the country.

The real security is in intelligence and information gathering of which understandably we will be told little or nothing. A display of warships in the the Thames would not achieve anything. We are not preparing for the battle of Jutland

There's little or no chance of a terrorist attack during the Olympics, security will be way too tight. Terrorists tend to go for soft targets where the attack is unexpected, such as 9/11 or the London bombings.

In this case they will be happy to have instilled enough fear to see millions spent in a high profile operation which greatly inconveniences everyone involved in the games.
