Mine is the Vaccnes, brings together my love indie, punk and rock and roll, there is quite a bit of the Ramones in there but its also very simple pop music. I do think some of their tracks do sound similar so I am not sure if they will have another successful album but the band is my favourite new band of 2011. Not been able to see them yet as nobody wanted to go with me when they first came out, and now they do all their shows are sold out. Reply to this message | Report message

Blimey and I get the mick taken out of me because I am old and most the bands I like are old... :D John Peel was lets just say slightly older and he was into a lot of new bands. Peely was always young at heart, in touch with the younger generation - he had a new band addiction, and always liked the underdog. Then when some of them would become famous he'd still like them but never needed to steal the limelight and shout from the rooftops that he'd got them on air - modest through and through. I still miss that voice. New bands - I liked Metronomy and Beirut, but Mark Riley on 6music played this number the other day. Comes from Kenny Everetts 'Worst songs' album, but it's darkly hilarious. I don't think that is the case, lots of good new stuff out there, but it doesn't mean its popular. Most the stuff in the charts is utter crap. That said older music will always be better than new music, as we have had from 2012 60 years of 'pop' music. Reply to this message | Report message
