Bright but chilly morning in the North East, so it was heated seats on and roof down in the CC3
My journey to work was a pleasure, aided by a lack of traffic.
The iPod shuffled Bill Withers' Lovely Day to the top of its playlist and, for a few minutes, all was right with the world.
In a nod to recent criticism on here, I didn't wear any headgear, although thanks to this site I know I'm too old for the car, and the wrong gender, if one recent post is to be believed.
The CC3 might be no more than a washing machine with an extra spin cycle to one regular contributor, if so, it's a spin cycle well worth having.
Sticking to the speed limit, I was still able to enjoy the car's handling as it tracked perfectly around bends and roundabouts.
Oh, and miracle of miracles, the old crate managed to get me to my destination without it's DPF clogging or its DMF exlpoding, which will come as a surprise to some.
Were I a cynic, I might think there are one or two green-eyed monsters in this forum.
If funds were unlimited, I would buy a Bentley convertible in the most garish colour, get the headlights on, the roof down, and stuff the lot of you. :)
Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Brilliant song!
Isn't it great if you are on a drive with shuffle on and then an upbeat song comes on just at the right time? It can make me shuffle in my seat, adopt racing position, drop down a gear and put the foot down!!

Excellent Iffy ! A heartwarming tale of motoring Shangri-La indeed.
Good of you to take time between clients to remind us all that driving can still be fun given the right circumstances.
Salon not busy today ?
:-))

...salon not busy today?...
Outed, shucks.
Should have bought a white Suzuki pick-up like Quentin's.
I can now add 'wrong job' to the list of wrong age, wrong gender, wrong dress sense and wrong choice of car generally.

Aw, only pulling your leg ! Bet it was really nice actually.

...Aw, only pulling your leg !...
No worries, Humph, that came over loud and clear.
Are you finally going to sort Mrs H a new car this weekend, or are you still clinging onto the money in the hope of getting another six pence of interest?
|
Still clinging. Negotiations continue on several levels. Should be able to spin it out a while longer until she thinks my idea was her idea......

Glad you enjoyed your drive, it's pretty nice in Surrey at the moment too. I spoke with some colleagues in the far east earlier and they assumed that the sky would be darkened with volcanic ash.....
I've never really liked convertibles, a personal preference of course and I don't begrudge anyone else driving them, I really like climate control and hermetic sealing.... unless I'm on my (pedal) bike of course which is a different pleasure to motoring.
As to hats, when SWMBO had a convertible I found that I needed to wear a sun hat (OK baseball cap) - certainly not a style statement but the sun shines in from above your sunglasses so you need a peak of some sort to stop being dazzled.
I still can't quite cope with the idea of a diesel convertible, especially not one with a raucous VAG PD engine in it, I appreciate that your Ford PSA CR engine will be much more refined though.

Sounds good, iih.
SWMBO and I always comment on how much we miss our MX-5 when the sun comes out. Actually, we miss it a lot more than that.
Used to love going out for a blast on those cold, crisp Spring mornings. You know the ones with the deep blue skies, sunshine, and lovely fresh air. Heater set on toasty and pointing at your feet, good pair of shades, and maybe a beanie to keep the bonce warm.
Let her warm through properly, then work that revvy twin cam right all the way up to its 7000 RPM power peak, maybe indulge in a bit of power oversteer out of tight 2nd gear corners, but mostly just enjoy the fresh air, sense of speed, and that indefinable sense of well being that only a convertible gives you.
Aaaaah, memories (sigh).. :-)

Well if I have achieved nothing in my life, at least I have engendered a bit of style into someone elses.
With the toupe off, visual style is important, you are less anonymous.
