Tomorrow is the motorist's 1st day of spring. The 16th April is the day that fuel supplies to filling stations have to conform to the intermediate spec, as opposed to the winter spec. So rejoice and give your chariot a refreshing drink of intermediate petrol. Of course, some garages may not receive deliveries for a day or two, but most of them turn it over pretty quickly and should have the new stuff in pretty soon. in another six weeks we will be able to buy summer petrol. Can't wait ;-).

petrol changes spec according to the seasons? I knew diesel did, but not petrol!

Dose summer derv / petrol give more MPG ?
|
Good question Zero, seems it does, from Tesco's supplier's website it changes every season --
Petrol quality in the UK changes four times per year in line with the weather. Summer petrol needs to be low volatility
so that it does not gas up the engine in hot weather. Winter petrol needs to be high volatility so that the fuel can be
“gassy” enough to start up on the coldest winter day. Spring and autumn specifications are mid way between the
winter and summer specifications.
