Got our holiday booked for next year, nice place, online reviews are all glowing, Im getting wiser on reading those, useful info.
Anyhow, we will be based just to the south east of Bideford and its an area ive never visited before, so anyone got tips/comment on the area.
My only shortlist is to pop down to Clovelly as ive read about it many times and it sounds worth the drive.
Other than that, any ideas? There seem to be several seaside resorts in the area especially but which is the one worth the trip?

Try Lynton and Lynmouth, Illfracombe. Nice places.

Ilfracombe was a nice place 20 hears ago. Now another run down rather depressing seaside town. Went there a couple of years ago as had good memories of the place as a boy. Wish I hadn't returned.

Just had a quick look around on Google Earth, Lynmouth looks nice - we generally like to do a seaside town visit which involves sausage and chips overlooking the sea with an ice cream to finish off. My wife then buys a handful of tacky bits for the mantelpiece and the day is set :-)

I lived 15 minutes from there 20 years ago and then it wasn't considered anything special. Lynmouth is good. Bit further afield Woolacombe Bay and Croyde are great beaches, nice cafes, hire a surfbard and fall off it alot!

No it wasn't anything special 20 years ago but its a lot worse now. Like a West Country Margate.
Spent a lot of holidays there in the sixties when Ilfracombe really was a nice little town
