It's unlikely the intended recipient will read this, so I think I'm safe in posting.

A couple of years ago we bought a digital photo frame. It has proved very successful, we like the look of it, and mother in law has on a number of occasions expressed interest.

We thought we'd get her the same one for Christmas - but although the website for the company exists, nobody seems to have one - the best I can find is "no longer available" etc.

The one we have is a light wood frame, it's 15 inch, it cost all of about £70 at the time, and it displays in XGA, so 1024 x 768.

In fact it was this one:

Anybody have one of these that's similar? We (she) only really want the wooden (effect at least) framed variety, not silver, white or black and I can't track anything down that's less a gadzillion quid.

Not helpful to the OP but I was amazed how some of these frames cost more than a Laptop with a bigger screen!

11" one available from Amazon.de
tinyurl.com/cl8rpqp

They also have some lighter wood ones available for 104€ which are 8"

I reckon that an artisan at picture framing shop would be able to do you one (so to speak).

I have an 8" one...( go on, get it over ).

It's a Samsung, but it's high gloss black with a silver bead round the frame. It's not been in use for 2 or 3 years but I've just resurrected it and cleared all the photos off it.

We have a couple more grandsons now and I'm sure SWM would like a slideshow of their photos in the parlour....trouble is, I'can't find the CD Rom that gets the thing working !

I expect it will be in with all my DVDs and things. I'll have a proper look later.

I am surprised that it doesn't just show up as a USB Mass Storage Device when plugged into the computer. Drag and drop photos.

Maybe the photos need to be in a particular resolution etc.
 Digital photo frame - Ted

Yeah, I thought it might just come up automatically.
Right click on the picture, click on' send to ' and select removable E or F storage device.

It only brings up 3.1/2 Floppy or D drive.
I'll sort it tomorrow.

If it shows up as a mass storage device and it is seen then it is drag and drop (or copy). The send to feature of Windows needs to know about destinations (it can be configured).

So in Windows Explorer does the storage in the photo frame appear as a drive (e.g. E or F)?

If yes, go and select the photos you want and select copy. Go to the drive that appeared for the photo frame and then in the right location select paste.

Rattle could sort this out and help. If you're really stuck I'll pop across.

The photo frame I have uses an SD card and I drag and drop any photo files which I wish to display on it in the computer (the SD card is used in a read/write 7 to 1 memory card reader) or the computer's own memory card read/write slot).

Thanks for the comments all.

For closure, I've trawled like never before, and I think this is the same frame as we have, at last, and it's apparently available from here (albeit at twice what we paid. Ow.).

Just have to decide now whether that website is ok or a Bunch of Pirates. More trawling.

Their past customers include Orange, Mercedes, Google, Shell, Total, Vodafone and their website ticks all the boxes I look for.

Thanks - I looked up their holding company and it all looks as good as you're going to get, I agree, so plunge imminent.

Thanks Rob for earlier reply.....I'll have a play with it over the weekend. Thanls also to Stuart...his comment made me look a bit closer and mine also has a slot for a card. I've got some of the photos I want to load still on the card in the camera so I'll see what that does !
