I'm not sure his language was strong enough to make his very valid points clear!
Does anyone disagree with him??

Reminds me of when I was in the Irish bar in Los Cristianos, Tenerife, I tried to explain that St. Patrick was 'actually' an Englishman (and I lived to see another day!)

Funny how you stick someone in front of a camera and they start to mince their words :-)

The bit in the second link about bonuses brought this to mind:

Sorry it's the Grauniad - wrong about everything all the time.

This guy's not everyone's cup of tea either:

Well well, they kept that quiet, notice it was the Cameron gobbing off in soundbites whilst searching for votes, but when it came to the watered down flat beer it was a 'spokesman'...thanks for those.

I, like the understated fellow in the youtube clips am heartily sick and tired of the whole lot of them, financial porkers and spineless govt lackey pigs at the trough, a pox on them.

Any more interesting views of the world of finance anyone's spotted.

Brilliantly portrayed by the actors in the marvellous Jeeves and Wooster series as the Drones Club, useless hooray henry's acting the fool, very funny portrayal of the type but look beyond the humour and weep.

Interesting link re Bullington Club.
Basically a group of 18 to 21 year olds dress up in tails in order to behave rather like Wayne and Shazza on any deprived estate in the country, many 'fans' after being to a football match or the young at other universities, getting just as drunk, being thoroughly unpleasant to people 'not in their club' and destructive, but with the one saving grace .... they pay for the repairs themselves, rather than leaving that to the insurance companies, the victims and the State (ie the rest of us).
Have I read that right?

>>Have I read that right?<<

Basically yes, many pop/rock musicians have done something similar, AND foot the bill afterwards,

I posted the link after a Radio 5 dead program this morning which was coming from Tottenham in London where the 'London riots' started, anyway - a chap in the audience likened Cameron, Osborne, Johnson etc. to the rioters.

:)

It was all part of the image of the pop/rock bad boys at one time!

Two differences to the 'rioters', Dog, I would argue.

Firstly, the rioters appeared, on the whole, sober.

Secondly, they do not have queues of white vans in the side streets to take away their booty - as they did in the 'riots'. My daughter was involved in the clear up organised via Twitter and Facebook, first in north London then at Clapham Junction. Initially they were not allowed to clear the streets where police were still collecting evidence, so went into the side streets to sweep there. The local householders described the scenes in their roads, blocked with vans being filled with goodies. Some did take pictures of the vans plus the people doing the loading - one unfortunate family had their house trashed when the 'looters' realised they were being snapped.

The Brixton riot of 1985 was sparked by the shooting of Dorothy Groce by police

The England riots of 2011 were sparked by the shooting of Mark Duggan by police (spot the connection)

I can quite understand what lead up to the riots, but those people in the white vans were looters, and as such should have been shot,

It’s good to hear another side of Twitter and Facebook in respect of the riots instead of them being used to organise them, Londoners always pull through, the great fire in 1666, the plague, the blitz, good wins through, in the end.

Good song Dutchie, I used to be a simple man, but now I see the sun going down and the stars spinning round,

BTW, that black guitar is the same as mine, Fender Stratocaster 62 reissue ;)
One mans view of the world of finance - Dutchie
I used to play the mandoline a bit.Fender Stratocaster that ain't simple.>:)I;ve heard this song before .When it is a clear night I often go out and watch the stars in the sky.Old age creeping up.)

I don't know about where you are Dutchie but I can clearly make out the milky way here on a clear night, quite amazing when you think you're looking at the the centre of our galaxy, and there are literally hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe.

>> I used to play the mandoline a bit.

Can't think of a rock/pop tune with a mandolin in it that I don't like. I loved how 10,000 Maniacs used it on 'the wishing chair' album.
