Been waiting all day for a delivery which has not shown up from DPD. The time slot was 1.20 to 2.20. I phoned the supplier at 3:30 and they told me the machine had broke so they are having to take all signings by hand and there is a slightly delay.
It is now gone 6:00, and still no sign of the delivery. The tracking update still says due for delivery at 1:20 to 2:20.
Luckily I am in no rush but I have arranged all my jobs to take this delivery today that has now not turned up. What are my rights?
It is a business account which probably means I have a lot less rights?
It is £300 worth of stock I am waiting for so I am a bit worried, and I had planned to start a system build tonight which I now can't.
How late do couriers normally work to?
I feel like doing a Tesco and saying, no you're too late, I don't want the order now.

If you paid extra for a particular delivery type/time then you can claim the extra paid for this service back.
Apart from that, only upon non delivery, or no delivery within a reasonable time scale can you not pay for the goods.

My Tesco wine was delivered at 9.45 pm on Friday and its not unusual for us to get Amazon orders delivered between 9 and 10pm.
Not sure about your rights, you could just refuse it or as you need it, your supplier may wish to make some sort of goodwill gesture if politely prompted.

I could have got the stuff from local supplier for not that much more, but this place is still cheaper even with the delivery costs. I paid £6 for next day delivery.
I have been spending over £100 with them each week, I've had problems with late deliveries before, last time it was a blown out tyre but never this late.
My mothers getting a bit annoyed about it as she is constantly listening out, I had to go to a job before and got another one soon. If my mother wasn't in there would be a real problem.

This is turning out to be one of those days, the customer wasn't in :(.
Going to ring and see if I can cancel this order tomorrow, not having another day like this waiting expecting deliveries.

Surprised you've had neither the card nor the delivery.
I've had very good (spot on delivery time predictions) and very bad experiences with DPD. The bad one was when I was in the hall and actually heard the card drop through the letter box. No doorbell, no knock, just the card. I saw what it was immediately and ran out and caught the driver before he cleared off.
I don't know why they do that, but I strongly suspect the main measure they are subjected to is keeping to the schedule!

It is still saying its on the van, but if the machine is broken it would do. All they needed to is send a text message or email to explain what the problem is. I can't phone PDP if you do there is an automated reply which rudely says phone the supplier, I can't phone them as they are now shut.
Somebody has been in all day too, so there is no way we have missed anything.
I understand break downs happen etc, but it would be nice to be kept in the loop. E.g they could send an automated message to all the customers which have goods on that van.
Thankfully I don't need the goods till Wednesday, but its for a PC build and I would rather get on with it ASAP while I have spare time.

If you google for it, you can find the number of the local DPD depot - you can't get it from their website. If you can get through, they are usually helpful. I did this when I noticed my address on the tracking info was wrong. They rang the driver and made sure he came to the right place.

A friend once had a card from the courier through the door when he was in... he ran out and got the attention of the delivery driver. They hadn't bothered bringing the parcel because they assumed he wouldn't be in :-)

Common problem out in the sticks, especially when one has a dodgy post-code (already caused mayhem with a protected tree !) - I find that in order of reliability Post Office, Parcel Force and UBS score highly. DPD delivered a DVD to the wrong address in the wrong village 8 miles away. Only a prudent and professional village Post Office traced me and phoned me one morning (the package was taken there by the other householder) despite the Royal Mail not being in the mix. In my old place I knew most of the delivery drivers, including the regular Postie (Biker and Spaniel owner) - being rural is handy occasional.

That tip paid off. He checked it for me and said "oh thats the van that broke down init" I said I don't know but I was told his machine broke. He said yeah and then the van broke down after that....
This was the same van which had a blow out a few weeks ago. Its on an 11 plate...
Either this van is very unreliable, or it just happens to develop faults the day they are supposed to be delivering. Either way was told the parcels should be coming tomorrow, I am still going to complain to the supplier though.

Sounds like a breakdown yarn to me, some bods in dispatch offices trot this out as the standard reason whenever they've messed up, it's shoddy and not in the least clever, and the bods that do it don't like it when the front line staff refuse to go along with the lie.
If the vehicles were as unreliable as they make out they'd need double the fleet on standby.

I mentioned a little while back about the Blue-ray player I ordered from Amazon for which I paid extra for express (not next day) delivery via DPD,
It didn't arrive so (pfd) I cancelled the order and received a full refund including the delivery charge.

I wish it was :).
Although I have been doing some work on my program tonight (the program I use which automates a lot virus removal) and made a silly error in the event handling routine.
Without getting too technical, I ended up opening a program nearly 200 times (had to a hard power off) but at first I thought it was a ghost. Took me 20 minutes of debugging to realise my very silly typing error!.
Programming errors which still compile are a nightmare!.
So it wasn't some ghost or Halloween trick, I am just stupid and tired :D

We have no end of delivery problems...
Our address is (well, it isn't, but it illustrates the point) 10 The Road, The Small Village, Whereverpool, A1 1AA. On the very same road, about 2 miles away is 10 The Road, Small, Whereverpool A1 1BB.
The amount of delivery drivers who go to the other address is amazing. It would be nice if the residents of the other house were nice and pointed drivers in the right direction, but no, they're ignorant muppets. I've even been to speak to them to no avail.

They don't even bother in South Manchester. You just get a "while you were out" card through the door and the postie legs it. Went down to collect a parcel once and found the postman picking out the lightest items and telling the bloke in the sorting office that the rest would have to be collected.

I paid a hotel bill on 19th Sept by credit card. It was the only payment on the card and over 3 weeks later, still waiting for a statement, I thought I'd better pay it on-line by ' faster payment '.
Don't not want no £12 fine, I thought.
I rang them up and apparently my statement was in a batch in a van that had had an accident and been burnt out !
The guy assured me there would be no late payment penalty. Marginally better excuse than 'An elephant poked it's trunk through the office window and sucked up all the paperwork ' !

I once missed a payment on a credit card - a long time ago, maybe 1997? I phoned up and said I'd not got the bill. I was also busy (working silly hours running a help desk for part of a bank)... Anyway I was told a load of bills had gone missing so no late payment fee etc. Months later I found it down the back of the TV - flat mate must have put it somewhere like on the TV and it was knocked off.

Missed the Xmas bill and the following month got a phone call re missed payment.
It transpired my address had been hijacked and diverted to a flat 2 miles away.
The CC Co changed it back, cancelled the Penalty & I paid the bill - Job Done!
7/8 months later my son. aged 22 was buying his 1st flat, I was paying a deposit, legal exp, etc - all he had to do was furnish - get a mortgage (In 1998 mortgages were easy to get!)............then the sh1*e hit the fan.
No mortgage.......was it his flatmate? NO - it was me............
I had moved home to a council flat 2 miles away and borrowed / never paid back several thousands - the perpetrator has the same surname and initials and armed with my "LOST CC Bill" Credit limit £8,000, paid in full the previous month - say £800 he had opened store accounts, got loans saying he had just moved from my address to his..............
It took about 4/5 months to clear with the help of a friend of a friend who eventually spoke to the Credit Checking Agency and the Loan Companies...........
Son got his mortgage...all was well - he repaid me the deposit when he moved from the flat to a house 5/6 years later.

The parcels arrived this morning, with a load of stickers on the packaging saying "Delivery by noon" then todays date written all over it.
I asked the driver if he had problems yesterday he said
"Dunno mate, I was off yesterday".....

I have to say I had an excellent delivery experience last week. I ordered a new mattress from an online company at 1.30pm on the Tuesday which offered delivery within 1-2 days. I was off on Wed/Thur which is why I selected it.
10am the Wednesday it was delivered, by a friendly driver. Undamaged! All in all nothing to complain about. Especially as the company is at least 200 miles away from my home.

Likewise! - We ordered 2, 15 tog Duvets from a firm in Brum, Sunday tea-time.
Got an e-mail yesterday saying "order despatched" , delivered 10am today! - estimated delivery 4-6 working days!
Looks like its going to be a bleak winter tho` - I enquired why we needed two, one for the bed, and one for us to "Snuggle" under on the couch in the evenings!! (that means no C.H this year then!! ;-( blinmmin wimmin!!!

How much are 15 TOG quilts, are they Goose/Down or Synthetic Filling?
Are Quilts not normally 10-13?

The ones we ordered are Hollow-fibre 15.0 tog, at £17.97 each (king-size) Super-kings £23.
I know a lot of folk like proper down-filled ones, but we find them too heavy. We have a few of these hollow ones in different Togs, and certainly can reccommend them for warmth.

Last year it snowed 26th November and the snow melted finally from my garden at the end of February - it was 5 feet high after it was piled high with snow from the driveway - having a driveway that takes 5 cars + is useful for most of the year but it is a beggar when it snows.
I was on Chemo and it was SWMBO + Neighbours who kept the drive free

Ordered Emergency Foil Blankets (Just in case the car breaks down) in the coming Winter Weather.
Ordered 11am yesterday via Amazon - arrived 10am today.
Why Amazon? Amazon take Credit Card info and pass order to 3rd party.
3rd party do not know CC details as they are paid by Amazon.
I am not saying the small company is not trustworthy but you never know. If Amazon screws up CC details etc then Amazon & CC Company can argue between themselves.

Once again, another "Scam" warning doing the rounds! this was in my "Spam" folder this morning.
Treat with as much derision as you decide! - but if you get billed - you was warned!! ;-)

POSTAL SCAM Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize . If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

This 'scam' was operating in 2005/2006 and is not anymore. So this email doing the rounds (again) is spam.
