I still have not bought one - the one I fancied was sub 20K miles and around £13/15K.
There was a 10,000 mile car, 2.5 yrs old but overpriced(IMHO) at £18K last week in Edinburgh and it went in 2 days.
Browsing I noticed a 57 plate , 50K miles for sale in Basingstoke - Long way from Scotland!
Renault franchise - they have had it for 3/4 months was £13K and has come down to £11.5K then today fell to £9.5K...............
Should I hold out for my 3 yr old / 20K miler at about £13/15K or risk under £10K on one that has done 50,000 miles and is 4 yrs old?
Just noticed the advert at 8pm, I do not know if it is 1 x owner, full HSH etc etc, only 3 x photos which indicate hee haw other than being dark grey

It's a petrol engined Honda - mileage means nothing compared to condition and service history.

I think sometimes it really pays to travel.
I'd ring them up and get the salesman to run through everything - documentation, history, walk around the car describing any damage. If it checks out then travel to get it.
I saed myself £4k on my current landcruiser using the same technique. I was at the dealers when they opened the following morning and did the deal. I live in the south and the car was in Derby. They'd priced it to sell, and it did.

A niche car, i love them.
I think the problem with all these types of cars post 06 (and years 01 to 06 are in limbo land where anything could happen) is that as they get older the £460 VED rate becomes an increasingly high proportion of the costs as the car depreciates.
Factor another 3 years of depreciation and you might be looking at nearly £500 VED.
That's what helped stop me buying a post 06 high VED vehicle anyway, hence Hilux instead of Landcruiser in 07.
Anyway, the price it's now at reflects that potential loss IMO, so i agree with above, if it's a good one, buy it enjoy it and run it into the ground.
When you eventually sell it's a car that will export to other countries who have different VED rules.
A thought occurs, that would make a nice LPG conversion, a car like that giving the economy of a Diesel.

I've been tempted too, but I don't think it would be practical to bring one over here. I read the other day that the €2,600 'fine' you get in France for buying something of that order is about to be increased and joined by an annual pollution tax as well. Shame.

I agree travelling may be worthwhile.
Most of the problems with a private sale - provenance of the car, means of payment - are absent when buying from a franchise dealer.
Returning for warranty work would be a problem, but such work can usually be approved to be done at a garage near home.
And if something messes up badly, at least you know who has had your money and where to find them.
Swing by the caravan on your way back, I'll look the car over and make you a cup of tea.

Why not ring them and see if they'd consider sending it up to another dealership in their group if they have one that is closer to you?

South of England chain only - the car won't hang about at that price and getting down by plane (and back if the car is "not as described") could be pricey.
You can fly to Germany and Italy from London more cheaply than Edin/Glas to London

The only one nearer to Heathrow is Camberley
Zero , fancy a trip just down the M3 ?
I know the feeling re travel to see a car. A few months ago I found what I was interested in.
50 miles from Aberdeen. I was not able to go see at the time and then it was gone.

It's the price you pay for wanting something relatively unique, you will likely have to travel a long way to find the right one.
Don't leave your enquiries too long FB, it'll go.

FB, that dealer is only a mile off my daily commute. If you want me to drop in, take a few photos and ask a few questions, let me know.
