In the bottom picture of Porthcurno Beach you can see the fields on the top of the cliffs where I used to load potatoes.

So now you know where Walkers Crisps come from!

There's only one way to discover the real Cornwall and that's to stay off the A38 and buy an Ordnance Survey map.

Ya can do a lot with Google maps, I've found some smashing little coves known only to the Daphne du Maurier's of this world.

You surprise me, a man of your edumacation and general interest in the language.

A cove is a term for a chap or a fellow.

dictionary.reference.com/browse/cove?db=dictionary

The link does not give much information, but in my mind I have the term 'decent cove' used by a Victorian gentlemen to describe someone who is honest, reliable or likeable.

A 'rum cove' might be someone who is a little bit dodgy, or someone whose background is unclear.

I can imagine Dr Watson using these terms in conversation with Holmes.
