A $1.5m modified Ferrari plunged into the ocean after its driver lost control of the sports car during a high-speed race in Canada.

Rana and his co-driver and navigator Roland Linder escaped from the submerged race car without injury and remained optimistic.

Roland Linder said accidents are an unavoidable part of racing. "I think this is part of racing … even the best drivers in the world is going to have a little boo-boo here and there. This is just a boo-boo," Mr Linder said.

Reading the report it appears that the car was taking part in a rally, not a race as such, and that it was on gravel at the time of the incident. I can't think that a Ferrari like this would be suitable as an off road rally, as the driver has found out

I remember Ferraris being rallied. A homologation special about the time of the group B rally cars IIRC.
