I'm with the perro here. I can see why people might not see the point of rating but I can't see why it bothers them. Anonymous positive/negative/offensive rating doesn't really say anything intelligible to the individual concerned. It could well be that no one has understood the real meaning of the post. That does happen from time to time.
As Pat points out, an answering post criticising the tone or content of a post does have some meaning, and establishes a dialogue. But sometimes one thinks, hooray! or boo! without wanting to bother with a detailed answer. Perhaps the buttons should say Hooray and Boo.
Frankly I think you are all being a bit paranoid. Who gives a real damn for the worthless opinions of unknowns?
