What with the holiday season coming up, my local IAM mag has some info on new infringements in Spain which apparently are being cracked down on. Anyone else heard of them? Or any others which may be of use?

Not having a spare pair of glasses in the car, of the same prescription, if glasses are needed for driving

Wearing backless shoes or sandals for driving

Carrying loose items on the back seat of the car


btw I am regularly breaking all three of those over here... :-(

EDIT: well, shoeless, so I expect that's illegal...

The first one has been in force for many years

The others have been getting recent publicity - seem sensible

They've recently dropped the requirement for spare bulbs to be carried, given the complexity involved with some cars

It's a bit of a joke isn't it, really? Spain has some of the most suicidally dangerous drivers I have ever come across and some appallingly maintained roads, and they worry about something lying on the back seat. That's where I keep my guidebooks.
Lawmakers always go for the easy option, don't they?
Am I the only person in Western Europe who thinks better driver training is more important than writing tickets for minor infringements and alienating the people who should be supporting you?
I was sitting behind a driving school car here the other day when - to my disbelief - the 'instructor' told the learner driver to turn left into oncoming traffic with a 'no left turn' sign right in front of his eyes. I scurried off in the correct direction before witnessing the results.
