Nothing has changed though. Ford still use the 'mark' term for different revisions of a model with some confusion over some (was the revised Mondeo in 2003 a mark 3 or 4?).
BMW always used the E-numbers for cars like E46, E90 etc. Even if you don't know the current BMW 5-series is an F10 and the previous one an E60. And the one before an E39.
So seeing as the new BMW is an F10.... that messes up your view of BMWs no-end! Although ws the Exx/Fxx the start of the chassis number of similar? We'll get to G sometime then.
EDIT: Just looked it up and the short/long wheelbase 7-series is F01/F02.
