 Holiday insurance Question - Skip
We normally take 3 one week holidays in the UK in a cottage or lodge which we usually book through Hoseasons. They always offer their very expensive insurance which i never take out, however the only thing that concerns me is that they state that in by declining it you are liable for the full cost of any damage or loss to the property. Would they actually be in their rights to charge for any accidental damage that occurs and if so would any holiday insurance policy you can buy cover this risk ? I am just thinking that if we happen to burn a grade 2 listed cottage down to the ground it could prove a bit expensive !

Dont book through hoseasons, they are very expensive.

We have booked a week cottages in the uk for the last 8 years all over the country

We use any of the others like

Never take out the insurance.

I can thoroughly recommend these two: www.hoseasons.co.uk/cottages/the-larches-e4651#complexCottages

If you want something in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by sheep and on Offa's Dyke (the nearest pub's miles away).

Your own household insurance may cover you for personal liability - I've had annual travel policies for more years than I care to remember, well worth it covers you for any overnight stay.

We get travel insurance as a "freebie" with one of our bank accounts. Check the small print obviously.

I've had that now with a Lloyds account, also covers our mobiles...a no cost no-brainer

I have a Lloyds Classic current account, which doesn't have mobile phone or holiday cover etc. They are always trying to get me to upgrade it to one that does, but i understood that you had to pay a monthly fee for that account.

My nat west gold costs 12 quid a month I seem to recall.

But for that I get insurance on three mobile phones, comprehensive holiday insurance (unlimited journey or duration) and green flag breakdown recovery.

This thread is starting to sound like the sort of conversation you get at dinner parties round here :-)
