So - you've spent an hour or so looking over the threads here. Real life isn't going to intrude for a bit yet, or you don't have one.
Where else do you spend lots of time on the web - just your top three sites?
For me, most likely three only:
slashdot.org/
toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showforum=78
inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/

Here
FB
and the BBC sadly enough.

One more - here doesn't count!

(1) YouTube
(2) ?
(3)?
I'll check out the press + met office/bbc weather daily for a few minutes, but it's hardly a full blown affair, is it.
Plus, whatever takes my fancy - this morning it was Boston, Mass, b'cos it was on the bing homepage today.
So, that makes Wikipedia numero dos then, mayhap even numero uno!

Jowett.org

How sad is that ?

Facebook

And I've met other C4P members in the latter two. Also read PPRUNE occasionally where I bumped into Espada; found the politics of some folks here too much apparently.
There's also a Yahoo group for Brompton riders - but that's based on email rather than a forum.

You mean we dared to criticise the state of Israel?
|
>> we dared to criticise the state of Israel?
Espada wanted to make out that disapproval of Israeli foreign policy was the same as anti-Semitism. I took some considerable trouble to assure him that these are two quite separate things, and to remind him of something he must know perfectly well: that some of the most cutting criticisms of Israeli bullying, brutality and expansionism in Gaza and the West Bank are made by Israelis, who really know what they are talking about but can't reasonably be accused of having anti-Semitic views. He didn't engage with any of these arguments in any way but just disappeared.
An individual's absolute determination to see others as having bad faith and being hypocritical is often a sign of bad faith and hypocrisy on the part of that individual. I hoped Espada would come clean and separate his Zionist views from the very well-known defects of Israeli foreign policy, but he didn't. If he wants to think that people who can't help noticing when the human rights of a population are repeatedly and meanly trodden on are supporters of Islamist human bombs and the like, he will. It's his human right after all. But it's a sad sort of outlook in my book, a bit distasteful and in the end, harmful. Israel has a real problem in getting itself accepted as a western democracy, and that sort of thing won't help.
|
I've been accused on this forum of being (1) a Homophobe (2) a Bigot, and (3) making anti-Semitic remarks.
The first two are debatable, I am in no-way anti-Semitic but - I am anti-Israeli regime
Least said - soonest mended.

Dont know, but I would far sooner own up to big and bouncy than subbuteo.com!

I thought subbuteo was a Hobby, but then I discovered it's actually a hobby.

I've just added up all the bookmarks in my Firefox toolbar. Including those in subfolders (News, Webcams, Blogs etc) there are over 140 sites i visit regularly.
The top three (not including C4P) in terms of time spent are:
www.facebook.com/
www.bbc.co.uk/news/
www.b3ta.com/ (caution - swearing)
but I also check a dozen more sites at least daily for weather, local news headlines, blog posts, auctions, live traffic, classified ads and online dating. Lord knows what tailored web adverts that last sentence will throw up.
I also view a lot of webcams (not that sort!). It's fascinating to watch daily life unfold around the world, from the arrival of the tsunami in Samoa to the midnight sun in Svalbard via the advance of snowfall across the UK in winter - the internet is an amazing place.
I agree with Zero though, BBD's reply should be interesting - if only for some good tips :)

>>if only for some good tips<<
You did say tips, didnt you Dave?

I used to like B4U search.com but it was pulled.
You could find peoples addresses and phone numbers and you could search houses around your ' target ' house. I found quite a few of my neighnour's and their family's names.
Data protection, I suppose. Is there another site that does all that...and free !
Ted
|
Facebook (though thats mostly phone)
Pistonheads
Celticquicknews
Daily Record

>> Is there another site that does all that...and free?
www.192.com/ does quite a lot of it, basic results are free and comprehensive ones are paid-for. www.thephonebook.bt.com/ is handy too. Try Googling names in quotes, addresses in quotes and adding 192 to the search term - a bit of cross-referencing can garner you quite a lot of information.
I unnerved a user of another forum once by finding out their full name, address and phone number in 5 minutes flat, just by searching their username and some facts they'd previously mentioned about themselves. A good lesson in online security really. I hope my details would be a little bit harder to come by, but I bet they're not.
