That Lamborghini certainly is butt-ugly isn't it? No wonder they dumped it, started again and came out with one of the most beautiful cars of all time (the Miura).

I don't go along with you on that PU. I prefer the look of that first Lamborghini model to the Miura although neither is what I would call beautiful (like an Alfa 8C or almost any Maserati). And it would almost certainly be a whole lot nicer to drive, and less dangerous if you had the gonads to try to go fast in it.

Twiggy (now with a comfortable middle-aged figure) in her first heyday lived in the same house as my late MiL in (sniffle) Notting Hill. Her hustler boy friend had a lime-green Miura as an urban runabout.

The two cars that really look worth their estimates (to me) are the Bugatti and the Alfa.

I thought the Bugatti's estimate was remarkably low. Something funny about it perhaps?

You certainly wouldn't buy it on the assumption that being a quality product, it wouldn't need much spending on it to keep it going. And as you suggest bt, there's a strong possibility of, er, 'diverse origins', that it's a 'bitza' with a scrambled bloodline. Impur sang so to speak...

That wouldn't necessarily put one off though, if most of the bits were genuine or properly made replacements.

The Alfa would likely be less stressful to own and drive though.

Would any of you pay more for a car if it had been owned by a Beatle or, as one sometimes used to see "One Titled Owner"?

Certainly not. Both contentions would lead me to suspect neglect or even abuse. That said, there must be quite a few low-mileage unmolested old fine motors lying half-forgotten in some people's garages: abandoned crazes, outgrown enthusiasms, frightening beasts bought in the hope of impressing someone and quickly made redundant.... You would have to suss them out carefully though.

In the late seventies someone came to visit our then lodger, flat-sitting downstairs really, in the Grove in a red Ferrari Daytona, a rock god's ex or someone like that. Parked it roughly among the jalopies there among the traffic and vandals.

I saw one just like it advertised on another thread here yesterday at an estimate of more than a quarter of a million quid. No idea what they cost new but it certainly wasn't that much.
