I'd pre-booked a Focus/Astra/Golf with Hertz at Heathrow. Got there late at 1am this morning and they eagerly brought round a KIA Venga 1.4D for me.... Tall, rotund thing, thought it was a Nissan Note or Juke in the dark at first. anyway, may have room for 4/5 adults but boot was useless for my needs.
Short of cars in that size segment they confessed. Aren't they fobbing me off with a car from a smaller class?
Had to pay extra to "upgrade" to a KIA Cee'ed diesel estate. Have I been conned?
Also, I checked the black bodywork in the dim car park, and have now in daylight noticed that the rear wiper blade/arm is missing... Guess they'll do me for that too??

The missing wiper is worth a phone call. Just explain what you've told us and ask them to note it on the rental record. I'd expect them to be reasonable about it, and the odds are better than if you leave it till return time.
Sorry, no idea about the Venga.

The Venga is one size down from a GolfCeedAstraFocus in Kia speak. Hire firm may be different.

I booked a Group C car, "Ford Focus or similar". I don't think a Venga 1.4 diesel is in the same league?
|
I'd say you've been downgraded. I wouldn't be happy. I'd want a better car or a part refund.
|
I wouldn't accept a KIA Cee'd estate as an upgrade from a Focus/Golf.

Agree, same size, OK an estate but same class of car.
Except my Ceed estate which is altogether superior. :-)

I've used Hertz for many years through work, recently I booked well in advance a class X car, 2.0 litre or equiv and I was sent a Kia C'eed estate, I rang the local centre and asked them why they had sent this and they said it was an "updrade" as the estate was classed as a higher grade.
Previously to this I booked a grade D 1.8 or equiv and recieved a Insignia 2.0 diesel SRI, only last wek I again booked a D and got an apologetic phone call from the local centre saying they had no "D" cars but would I be ok with an Audi A3 Sport TDI, i said it was ok and it got delivered, it was a 11 plater with 800 miles on the clock, every panel was dented and the inside was a disgrace, some people have no repsect, i'm sure they must be getting a big bill for it!
So in answer to the OP Hertz class the Ceed as a very high group!

I had a hire car from Arnold Clark earlier this year, booked an Astra sized car and got given a Qashqai, they insisted that it was the same class as an Astra and not an upgrade even though their website lists the Qashqia as the next group up. Seems like they make it up as they go along!

Venga is part of the Hetz "fun" collection.
