Booked last night for our July/August trip to Auvergne & Provence. Out on Sunday 24 July early afternoon. Return 10 Aug at 18:00. RETURN fare on Norfolkline is £59. SeaFrance was a couple of quid more.
Last year it was not far off £60 each way and in past we'd have regarded £180 return as a bargain to be booke by end Feb at latest.
Can any of the companies be making money at those prices? SeaFrance is known to be a basket case surviving on subsidy. The Seacat service went belly up a couple of years ago and LD lines seem to have abandoned Dover as well.
How long before another company gives up and if so will it be back to the old comfy duopoly?
