Hi All,
I know this has been discussed previously to some degree on C4P, but I would to know if anyone has an in car camera system and their experience. Ideally I would like one that can capture all around the car.
The Roadhawk RH2 has in car footage which when you see the examples on the web can clearly see around most of outside the car but I would think conditions have to be ideal, and when speaking to Roadhawk they will only market it as a forward facing for external, and in car cabin footage.
I know it can be deemed a paranoid, but I recently posted on here regarding an accident whereby as motorbike decided to ride into the back of my car and although admitting full fault at the scene, he later denied any such admission and on his insurance report claimed I swerved into him. No witnesses so it would really have been my word against his.
I was very very lucky in that I managed to get hold the council CCTV footage that covered the junction and showed what happened, it almost went to court, but once the 3rd party relaised there was CCTV footage, the admitted liability.
This was only minor incident but caused me enough headache to sort, now if I did not have the CCTV footage then I would have been so much harder, hence my wish to have have CCTV for the car as if I am in such a situation agian, it could make life so so much easier, of couse hoping any such thing does not happen again.

Maybe fit an RH1, rather than a RH2 at the front, with another at the rear....it has been done by users of another forum I visit. Except, don't buy an RH1 now though....there's a replacement due in a few weeks. It will be called the DC1 if I recall correctly and will be similar but with a few upgrades and improvements.
The RH2 does also have the disadvantage of being more visually intrusive and looks like it would obstruct your view more than the RH1 as it'f fitted vertically rather than the horizontal fitting of the "1".
They were apparently cleared out of stock recently due to the publication, on Youtube, of that footage of the lorry hitting a car on the A90 in Aberdeen, almost head on, and captured on camera.
Expect some flack from those who object to in car cameras or CCTV due to personal intrusion or civil rights issues. However, you'll look at your circumstances and do as you wish.

I've got an RH1 permanently mounted & wired in to the fuse box.
They're not that good for recording other people e.g. the guy that tries to merge into your offside will be unseen on camera (unless you have 4 of them). None of the cameras are all that good for showing another driver did something.
I think of it more along the lines of a confirmation of what i did or didn't do (it'll record what you said and if you steer, brake or accelerate).

I too managed to get some CCTV footage from a nearby bar when a car stopped then reversed back into me. Dispute is still going on (happened at the end of March). Guy in the other car claimed I drove into him. My insurer at first said they couldn't use the CCTV as it didn't show any of the car number plates, and wasn't clear enough to show who the people were at the scene of the accident. They said that if it went to court the other party could turn round and say it wasn't him or his car and the CCTV would not be able to prove otherwise. Fortunately however, as he admitted he was at the scene of the accident (because he is claiming I drove into him), my insurer are now able to use the CCTV. I've also got an independent witness as well. Just waiting for all the paperwork between insurers to be sorted out now. Once that happens, along with some other bits and pieces that I can't mention at the minute, I'll update my thread where I originally mentioned the accident.
