37 out of 43 Police Services have signed up to a scheme which will let motorists attend a £100 course, in lieu of a fine and points, for speeding offences, The levels for prosecution will be set at
Over 42 in a 30
Over 53 in a 40
over 64 in a 50
over 75 in a 60
over 87 in a 70
This equates to limit + 10% + 9 mph
Below these, offer of a course, but only one in 3 years. Above, prosecution as normal.
The funds raised from the course fees will go to fund the camera system.

Speed awareness courses have been around for years, so I'm not sure what's new here.
It may be the national guidelines, because I think in the past each force set its own limits for when a course would or wouldn't be offered.
Also 'over 42 in a 30' for a course cannot be right.
100mph in a 30 is 'over 42', but I can guarantee you won't be offered an awareness course for doing it.
Any chance of a link, Perky?

Iffy, what is new is the threshold, below which a course can be offered, currently Limit +10% + 2mph. Also the course fee is higher than it is now. The article is in the T*mes, I subscribe to on line content but the link will not work for non-subscribers, I think. Try this but I don't think it will work.

The speeds I quoted those BELOW which a course can be offered so, anything over 42 in a 30 would be a NIP, even 43 never mind 100!!!!!
