I want to provide somebody with a temporary mobile phone number that is pretty much just valid for the weekend
I have a spare, working, mobile phone without a valid sim card - what's the easiest way to do it - can I just by a new sim with some credit on or or is it more complicated ?
Whats the best deal ?

Do you know if your spare phone is locked or unlocked to a network?
The safest way would be to stick to the phone's original network.
Most offer sim-only PAYG packages.

If it's an old phone you might be able to unlock it for free. Haven't got the url link with me, but I'll try and remember to post it later.

It's quite an old Nokia and i think it may already be unlocked.

www.trycktill.com/eng/unlock_swe.asp
You might need to click on the Union Jack at the bottom of the page for English instructions.

If you do not know whether it is unlocked just try your own sim in it. You then at least know one network that works! Borrow other sims from family & friends to widen the choice.

My local 99p shop sells vodaphone sim cards for - 99p if that turns out to be the network the phone is on.
