The one or two BBC Radio 2 shows that i listen to are constantly being interrupted by a strident woman advertising other radio shows, i have to turn off, not only does her voice grate but it's getting as bad as commercial radio for regularity.
This propaganda style of internal advertising is fairly recent, i don't recall it happening in Jimmy Youngs day.
Does it work, do any of you listen to the advertised programs, or does it annoy you too.
PS..told you they'd get rid of Sarah.

Any adverts on...........Me, off.

No I dont recall that either, maybe because Jimmy Young put me to sleep?

For turning up drunk on air.... surprised a lot that. Allegedly.

I've only been a Radio 2 listener for 4 years - I was forced to listen to it against my will for 2 weeks' training on a new job and eventually came to see (hear?) its merits. Sarah Kennedy almost had me switching off again though, she came across as a slightly dotty old granny who would read everything out of the papers at you and then give you her opinion on it, whether you liked it or not.
The adverts don't bother me, they're much the same as the trailers between programmes on the telly.
|
We haven't had radio 2 on for many years but I did comment, whilst watching ITV, earlier this evening that surely it would be a good idea if someone started a channel solely for advertising settees !
No programmes between the ads.

Check out Pop Up Radio on DAB, Bellsboy.
|
Ted check out Sofa Sofa for new settees. We've had sofas from them twice now (2000 and 2010) and pleased. Admittedly show room is in Wales but they did once visit Manchester which is why we got the first. Good quality and prices.
Not sure about the channel idea - bit like Ocean Finance? :-)

Lordy, Rob....don't tell Erin Dors about that. She seems to want a new one every couple of years. She doesn't get one though.
We've had 4 in 41 yrs.

So I'm not welcome for that cup of tea now then. Check them out though. Well made and good value in our opinion.

Going to bed...hope my stomach doesn't crush me...although Im not confident it won' after tonight's meal.

They're trailers rather than adverts...:-)
At least it's more genuine than ITV using its innumerable so called advertising breaks to just plug forthcoming programmes.
|
I surprised that two brands were mentioned in Corrie last night - Specsavers and Mattessons suaseges - not heard that before.

This might be the reason:

Anybody spot the fantastic 'Bovril' and 'Phillips' ads in The King's Speech?
|
I had a thought when watching Corrie the other night.
The prog is sponsored by Harveys...some sort of furniture retailer...I don't know them or where they are.
But the programme breaks run numerous ads from sofa companies and bed firms. Surely the sponsors can't be too happy about that ?

I wonder how long it'll be before Tesco take Freshco over - there was a hint of this last night when Fuzz mentioned "Freshco's Finest"
Back to the OP - Regular complaints on R4's Feedback of trailers for programmes on R4 - highly irritating.
|
Funnily Enough, I always have a mental picture of BobbyG being a Scottish version of Reg Holdsworth.
|
"Reg Holdsworth"
No, that's definitely Iffy.
Picture him in a Focus CC with the roof down and tell me I'm not wrong.
