 Costco Batteries... - Simon
I am currently seeking a new battery for my Focus (075 calcium type) and have heard a few people mention that Costco is a good place for sourcing quality batteries at a reasonable price.

Does anybody know what they stock and a rough idea of the prices they sell them at. I do know you need a card to purchase anything from Costco.

Failing that can anyone recommend a different alternative supplier of the battery I need and don't say Halfords, because even with my trade card they still want too much money!

Have you rang Ford parts as this is a fast moving item it may be cheaper this time of year.?

Failing them a local motor factors.

Not seen them in Costco store last week unless there in tyre place.

I need one for the Fiesta too, sick of charging it every few weeks now. It works fine until it gets to about 2c or lower and it looses all its charge.

It is only two years old but it is a cheap one. I would be interested to see how much a Ford one costs too.

The Costco ones are in with the tyres, a comprehensive range of Bosch batteries. I am not sure of the exact prices but in the £50 ballpark I think.

I have one that was used on a car for a couple of months and has been kept charged in my garage for ten years, it started a diesel van with a flat battery about a month ago.

My last battery for my 98 Mondeo, a Varta from a Ford specialist cost £100.
I was offered batteries at half that price but I suspect not a Silver Calcium one.

Try these people

www.tayna.co.uk/fitments/0/R11967/Focus-Batteries.html

They supply Varta Silver Dynamic batteries (Calcium) for a good price. About £70 for an 075.

I bought my battery from them two years ago, and was very impressed with the speed of delivery.

Bought an HCB063 battery for wife's Golf at Halfords yesterday at £74.99, original battery has only lasted from October 2000.

Last year I was looking for a battery for my 1999 Focus.

I looked at Halfords and a lot of online suppliers but ended up buying one from a Ford main dealer for £82.

If that lasts for another 11 years I'll be more than happy.

The costco ones are usually Bosch Silver, and I've always found them good value for money.

I used these guys back in August - performancebatteries.co.uk/

The service was good - next day delivery and the price was the cheapest I could find at the time.

Thanks for that. £48 for a Varta battery for the Fiesta. A decent brand and a great price.

As already stated, Costco only stock Bosch batteries. To give you some idea of prices, Halfords retail for the Bosch for mine last year was £135, with the trade card it became £110 and at Costco it was £68 plus. Mind you, from the trade only factors that I use, it was £55 inclusive...

The other thing you'll need is the appropriate Bosch code for the battery.

Over the Christmas break, I sent SWMBO to get an 076, and she came back with something far too big - they didn't understand the designation, and their Bosch catalogue's entry for my W124 was simply wrong. The battery went back for a refund.

We waited for the Vauxhall dealer to open again, and got one from there.

Are you comparing like with like? Bosch have three ranges of car batteries. for example for my Octavia the Silver range costs £78, the sliver plus £90 and the top of the rang AGM cost £120

Just to conclude this topic I eventually bought my new Bosch battery from a local motor factors for £58.64 inc VAT. That was for an '075' type Silver Calcium Bosch S4004 item (4 year warranty) at trade price. I never did find the price out at Costco but I did try the Ford main dealer and even with 40% discount over retail, their item was still just shy of £80!
