Anthony Howard also died today. On of the best political commentators with an encyclopaedic knowledge of 20th century politics. Sad day for intelligent journalism.

Yes, 'the Sherpa' as Private Eye called him (quite affectionately I think) in reference to his appearance. He was a nice man. Used to see him round Notting Hill when I lived there what seems like years ago.
