 Unwanted pop-up window - Iffy
While browsing C4P I'm getting a small window pop-up telling me I've chosen to open 'afr.php' which is from ads.car4play.com.

I've tried opening it, cancelling it, rebooting the computer but the damn thing keeps popping up.

Any ideas?

Perhaps one of the mods might like to shunt this across to the management.

Its fine on Windows!

I think its the add server used to fill the add space on the R/H side is not picking up an add.

I'm getting it on my main pc (win7 / chrome browser) -->

This web page is not available.

The web page at ads.car4play.com/www/delivery/afr.php?frameid=ad_mpu&referer=www.car4play.com%2Finsure%2Findex.htm&n=aac8cecc&zoneid=1&source=&cb=1292584401 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

PS iffy - safari's pretty ace, chrome's even better on the mac (IMO!)

EDIT: now that i think about it without storming in... the management are dealing with it, that's why i'm seeing this different error :-)

I can't be doing with this. I'll be back when someone has sorted it out. I just hope this isn't an 'HJ' moment...

Reported it now to Stephen - when I fired up my Windows PC with Firefox not getting a problem. It was the Mac/Firefox machine that was giving me the problem. Hopefully Steve has picked it up.

No probs ere with Firefox.

As Skoda suggests maybe "Engineering" were hitting it with a hammer as I was inbetween machines.

Thanks PU. Seems to be happier now that we have given the ad server a kick.

Zero and Skoda,

Thanks gents.

I think Zero's point about the adserver not picking up the ads on the righthand side could well be right because the righthand side is currently blank.

Problem doesn't appear to affect Safari, so I can use that for the time being.

Could switch permanently, but I've got Firefox set up - in my own limited way - how I like it.

The problem proves the worth of having a couple of browsers knocking about.

Edit: Thanks PU and car4play. Ads now returned, pop-up window gone.

Sorry looks like they left the hammer at home after all - thanks for the report though.

Well, thank goodness for that...
Mac/Firefox here but Safari works better - I just can't be bothered with all the bells and whistles.

I got that thing this morning. Just as iffy described. A careless click on my part perhaps.

It seems to have gone now. Everything here has to be rebooted all the time.

I don't have any problems with the forum as such but the advert areas of the screen displays the blue disc with the "Information" mark and "Web page cannot be found".

Could be your security blocking the ad.

I have no problems as I am using a decent security system and a proper browser..

IE8/Norton..

Websites running Java don't like Firefox or Chrome... been there.. rubbish compared to IE8

Popups? wot are they?

Never thought I'd hear that said about Norton products.

Never thought I'd hear that said about IE8.

One or two posters don't seem to have grasped this was a temporary problem this morning for users of the Mac/Firefox combination.

The management fixed it within a few minutes of it being reported.

Things can go wrong in any situation, it's how they are dealt with that's important.

From where I sit, the mods - PU I think - and car4play dealt with this very well.

And another thumbs up to Zero and Skoda, both of whom somehow managed to work out what was wrong, again within minutes.

Whilst we're dishing out accolades thanks to Stephen for giving the ad server a hiding.

I am using Windows 7, IE8, and Microsoft security essentials.

Yea! ... I'm on Windows XP and use MS security with IE8, and that blocks Aitchieboys pop ups,

But, I use Firefox for 4play + HJ, and that lets Aitchie's ads through.
