I am moving to a new flat, with the tenancy starting on January 3rd.
However, I need two forms of ID by January 15th. The tenancy agreement will be one, and then I need a utility bill, bank statement or driving licence.
I reckon it might be difficult to get the bill or bank statement so quickly after moving in, so I though that a new driving licence might be the best idea.
I can't remember how long it took to get a new one, when I moved into my current place. I just wondered if anybody has applied recently, and can remember how long it took.
If it takes too long, I might considered applying just before I move in. Might be a bit tricky if it comes quickly and is registered post (which I guess it is), but also I wonder if anybody knows whether they do checks to verify your address, or whether you need to send in documentation.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Does the ID have to be at your new address?

They dont check if your address is yours or not, nor do you have to prove it is.
They are pretty quick these days, I had mine renewed and back to me in less than 6 days.

Only the organisation requesting proof of identity can tell you whether the documents need to include your new address.

Thanks for your help guys.
The proof of ID will need to be in the new address but if, as Zero says, it only takes a few days and you don't have to prove your address, then I will probably just apply for it a few days before I move in (probably need a bit more time as it is obvious Xmas/New Year, which will slow things down).
Thanks again.
