It looks to be a very good extra.

Will this be available on other makes soon or has MB got the monopoly?

My Qashqai is black. It has a panoramic glass roof. The roof is tinted so from the outside on my car it looks black and you can't see it unless you want to. From the inside though it lets in loads of light. I love that. If you don't want the light though all you do is press a button and a blind covers the glass. Erm...what exactly is the advantage of the MB system again ?

It works for the MB because there is no room for a blind in an SLK. folding hard top etc.

Iffy this doesn't work by a sunlight induced chemical reaction but by the application of an electric current. I had something like it, on a much smaller scale, in my 307 which had a rear view mirror which darkened, very quickly, when someone came up behind me with bright lights.

Ah yes PP the auto dim mirror. I've got one in the Octavia, and it makes being followed by a Xenon equipped car much more comfortable. They get a greenish hue in the mirror, which tones in quite well with the instrument lights.
