If you can't hear Mr pda when he asks "is there any more tea" then I would advise seeing an ex spurt on the matter.

In the late 1950s I worked in a diesel engine test house. Hearing protection wasn't available. At the end of each shift, when I went outside, I felt quite unwell. In the 1970s I worked in commercial vehicle compresor test facilities. Ear defenders were available but they were very uncomfortable and because of this they tended not to be worn. Also there was no telling who had worn them before. In the 1980s I had a hearing test and the result was that I could not hear high frequency sounds. I blame it on my exposure to the noise at work.
