Seen a couple of these lately. They look like a good idea but what surprised me was seeing them just left on the car. Whist the owners were in B&Q and a Supermarket. The shopping guy was on his own. I wonder what a chunky non aerodynamic box does for your fuel economy?
Perhaps fuel needs to be much more expensive before some people take them off when not in use.

From conversations I've had with people over the years I reckon a fair number haven't got the slightest understanding of aerodynamics and think having a sail on the roof makes so little difference it doesn't matter.

TentBox as a brand are very noticeable in my part of N Yorks & the Lake District. Probably because of all the campsites in those areas…I assume users will remove them during the winter months.
Can’t say i’m tempted.

Don't sit on the fence Zeddo, tell us what you think.

I think he's saying he'd rather not sit on the roof....

Removing a tent box is not for the lazy, short or those wthout assistance on hand..
On an SUV the fixings to the roof bars may be difficult to reach without steps, and normally help needed to lift or lower even the small ones to avoid scraping the car bodywork.

I was once told that the benefit of tent boxes was that they allowed "wild camping" in England (apparently Scotland doesnt have such rules), maybe something to do with pitching a tent not being allowed but parking your car is?
I agree they look absolutely awful and I cannot understand what the benefit over taking a tent with you is.
