A curious incident happened today. Whilst out topping up beer supplies, the RAV4 started telling me it wanted fuel as well ! Being a few hundred yards from Tesco I diverted there.
I had to pull in with the filler on the wrong side but I often do that anyway. I was going to brim it up but the sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see the figures ,I ran the pump so I just stopped a few minutes in and saw that I had bought just over £30 worth...fine !
I went to the counter, holding card. " Good day, number four " says I. " I don't have a number four " says the man. " I looked again, I asked the guy behind me, we both agreed the there was number 4 pump , back to back with no. 3. He insisted he " didn't have a number 4 !
I went outside to double check, I knew I was right, I did numbers at school ! Contemplating driving off, I was blocking a queue, a nice Tesco lady came up to me , " have you paid ?" " No, your man wouldn't believe the pump existed ". She took the nozzle out and went round the car to fill up for me but found the flap shut She asked me to round to number 11 and put my fuel in. I said " I've already filled up ". " What !!! Have you paid ?" " No, I can't ".
She went to the office, came out and said " someone's paid it, £30+ was it ?" I agreed. "That's ok then, someone's paid for you, you're ok to go " So I went !
My guess is scam, someone has put £100 quids worth in, seen my total on the way to pay and told the cashier he was on number 4. What the cashier was saying is that he didn't have a number 4 waiting to pay...that's my take on it. My lucky day. Pity I hadn't brimmed up, but then your crim wouldn't have picked me.

Result!
But why do you need to see to be able to brim the tank?
Just keep going till it clicks?

Because, when I have the pipe over the roof, the nozzle is upside dowm and does spit back unless I keep an eye on progress.

Not free but cheap….I’ve previously stayed in Almansa, an authentic Spanish working town, whilst en route, avoiding motorways, to meet up with CBlanca walking groups.
€1.67 litre when i filled up…about £1.42 on my latest Revolut £ > €. Diesel €1.76.
B & B €45, tapas + decent 2 course meal, and very large measure of the local bars best brandy ( specifically requested without asking the price) and change from €17. Rounded it up to €20 as the brandy was such a generous measure.
