Coming back from Italy last week, I hadn't used the car for 8 days.
Drove short journey down to the local supermarket. On leaving car would not start.
left it a bit and tried again, this time it started.
Took it into the dealer yesterday where they tested it, said in tolerance for voltage but had signs of a leak. Replaced under warranty. While I was there had the 2 key fob batteries changed for a grand total of £4,99 (for both)

Very good service. Good call re the fobs. If it’s the same as the Vitara, they’re an awkward size that I had to source online as none of our local supermarkets or pound shops had them in stock.

The problem with the Suzuki hybrid models , is they are fitted with a smaller 12 volt battery compared to a non hybrid variants . That’s because this battery is only used for cold starting. Once the engine has reached a pre determined temperature, the stop start is controlled by the ISG system which uses the 48 volt battery.

Recently replaced fob battery in my 2019 Vitara…30 second job with a CR2032.
Do the newer mild hybrids use a different battery in the fob ?

Mine was 2032 and couldn't argue for £5.oo for the pair fitted.

Blimey ORB, that's cheap! I recently paid £6. For a single 2032 .....

Many many years ago I had a MB. Broke down and was put on the back of a lorry to the MB dealer.
Whilst waiting to pay my £900 bill another customer was picking up his car from servicing and asked for a battery for his other key fob. Not just any old battery BUT a single shrink wrapped MB battery.
There was a standard charge £8 for the battery and fitting whether it was fitted or just taken away! £8 then = roughly £18+ today!
I think Halfords charge £7 or £8 + battery today & I think that is a lot for a 2 min job

It is just a 2 minute job which a trained chimp could comfortably undertake.
But some folk are understandably nervous that if they get it wrong they may need a replacement fob coded to the car etc etc costing £100++.
So they get the trainee on it. It takes 10 minutes to select the right battery, find screwdriver, insert battery, check it works.
They also carry the risk of the job going wrong - may not happen often but with older key fobs plastics may harden, soldered connections fail when disturbed etc etc.
Perhaps £8 for a trivial job to get peace of mind seems like a good deal!!!

Our 2020 1.4 Vitara takes a CR1616 which is not a common size. It also has a cover secured by a tiny Philips screw needing a jeweller screwdriver.
It could be inconvenient if you’re not prepared. But with a spare battery and screwdriver to hand its a two minute job while my chimp makes a cup of tea.

Are you sure it's a Philips screw? Becoming increasingly rare nowadays. More likely to be a pozi, or possibly a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). Use the wrong driver and that's how they get damaged.

Apologies, I just meant a tiny cross head. It’s probably not a Philips.

30secs also to change the CR2032 in my 2005 Audi key fob. They seem to vary enormously in price on line, anything from 50p to £1.50. Car makers insisting on dealer only odd sizes is just another example of blatant fleecing the punter.
Can't see why we've been forced into accepting what is sometimes flawed security. Anyone here have a battery operated house key?

The Superb's fob batteries are easy enough to change once you've got the knack of opening the fob!!
