Been a long summer automotive wise...
Year last May I decided to give up the motor-cycling, a malaise set in over summer where I went out for a couple of rides but my heart was no longer in it.
I've been riding since I was 21, 46 years in all....had load of adventures and been lucky to only have a couple of minor spills, no real injuries. I went through a period of grief, I suppose, I binned y massive archive of bike magazines, sold off a lot of my kit (I must have spent quite a bit....) kept a set of textiles, a set of leathers, a pair of boots, a few pairs of gloves but that was it. A lot of time was spent missing all the enjoyable things, like my rides abroad and my UK adeventures including my "pilgrimages" to various places like Hereford, Canturbury and Winchester cathedrals. Most of the summer was spent doing other things like my proper pilgrimage across north Wales. I fianally sold the Guzzi and Transalp in July of this year and for the first time in 43 years was bikeless....(apart from my ornamental C90)
Biker friend came over from the Netherlands a few weeks ago and we visited BMW's Motorrad dealer in Chester and I found myself eyeing up a 400mile C400 Scooter, 10 minutes later I signed on the dotted line. I had viewed a couple of You Tube vids and the reviews are very good.
Bike was delivered and I went for a nice 15 mile trip to check it out and it's great...
Mrs RP has flogged her three year old BMW128Ti to BMW, better price that Carmundo, Motorway and part ex that Mazda offered against a two month old MX5 RF, she picks that up Friday ;-)
I still have the Audi - it is a brilliant all round car, quick, economical and very refined...love it.

I'm a few years older than you and was also riding most of my life, but I decided I was getting too old and creaky about three years ago and stopped. I miss it dreadfully and am tempted by a Honda CG350, nice low powered little thumper that gets rave reviews. It wouldn't go down too well with the boss, but as they say, it's better to apologise afterwards than ask permission first.

I thought you said you did the RAC/ACU training the same as me? I did mine n 1965, I didn't know it was still going strong in 1980.
I gave up two wheels on the road some years ago when I realised I didn't bounce as well as I used to and the roads (particularly other road users) were getting too dangerous.
I volunteered at a local museum that had numerous bikes (from and before my era) and would ride them on open days. That would help 'scratch the itch'.

Done my rac/acu course in 1980 on my rd200 ( smy177r ), incidentally Think I prefer the look of the little kawasaki w230 to the Honda.

The Honda is Japan built, so finish and engineering should be top quality. Not sure where they build the Kwack.
