I cannot access this forum on my PC. No matter which browser I use, I get the message "car4play.com took too long to respond ".

Presume you are accessing on your phone or a tablet then? Is your PC Windows 11?
Are you aware of anything has changed since it last worked, and when was that?
Is your other device using the same connection as the PC?
Are other sites OK on your PC? Have you tried a reboot?
Can you open a cmd window (right click Windows button, click Terminal) and type ping www.car4play.com and tell us the response time it reports? (Mine is 5 - 7ms at the moment).
While you are there do you know the IP address of your router? Often 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.1. Ping that and see what response time you get. (ping 192.168.0.1)
Who is your ISP?
If anyone else is seeing the same please shout out here.
This belongs in the Computer Related forum really so once I know you've seen it I'll move it there.

I had a couple of occasions a few weeks back where I got the "oo long to respond message"
Running Firefox. reboot cured it with clearing history before reboot.

No need for Windows 11 - I am still on W-10 with Chrome, and always start up C4p in a second or two. May be your broadband ?

I didn't mention whether win 11 was desirable or not, just asking which version he is on. Just part of my fault finding process... :-)

Yes, accessing it on my phone.
Not aware of anything changing, apart from various Microsoft updates. But the problem is that other sites seem fine, this one not.
PC connection is ethernet, phone is on the home wi-fi.
cmd/png test for website: Pinging car4play.com [80.85.87.79] with 32 bytes of data:

IP address of router: 192.168.1.254 Unable to do png test on this. However, a broadband speed test gives png as 11 ms.
ISP is BT.
However, today everything is working normally, though I have changed nothing.

Ah well...
Those ping stats aren't too shabby, I expect they'd have been quite different when you couldn't reach the site.
Hopefully whatever caused it has healed. Maybe this site did happen to be slow for that particular period, or at least was slow serving content to you, though I'm on quite a bit and haven't often seen that kind of problem.
I expect you'd probably already done it, but a reboot can sometimes help, as does clearing the browser cache (although not if its's more than one browser and only one site is affected!!)
Anyway glad it's back, please let us know if it recurs.

Feels a bit like your DNS server isn't properly reconciling the site but that seems unlikely.
If you don't turn it on what happens? The same message as before?
What VPN and where do you connect to (which country)?
And C4P is the only site affected?
When you aren't connected... go to the command prompt as before and type ipconfig /all and press enter. You may want to email me the outcome rather than posting here. I'll send you an email on your registered address which you can reply to.

Received - all looks good. Which when I think about it isn't so surprising, if the problem is this site only!!
So based on what you said earlier... is it ALWAYS a problem when not using VPN and NEVER a problem when you are, or is it variable?
If it is consistent can you repeat the request above 1) when it's working through VPN and 2) when it's not working and not through VPN.
I do generally know what I'm talking about but right now I am clutching at straws a bit, as other that what car4play said above I am a bit stuck!!
The easy cop-out is just to tell you to turn VPN on when you want to come here :-) but let's struggle on for a bit.
Anyone else got any thoughts?

It's consistent. I can interact with the site only with VPN.

There's no question of being secretive here, just some of the info being requested could be considered potentially sensitive. And anyway watching a diagnosis unfold isn't really so interesting... :-)

Your PC is connected directly to one of the router's enet ports.
You also have a phone connected via WiFi to the same router.
You can connect to C4P from your phone but not from the PC?
The PC can connect to other sites with no problem.
If so, that would indicate that the router's public IP address isn't being blocked at C4P since your phone can connect. The only difference C4P should see is a different port number.
Have you tried to connect with the PC firewall and AV disabled?
Rebooted the router to clean up any tables?
No port forwarding configured on the router?

Useful summary and the OP should respond but that's mostly my understanding except the PC can connect when VPN is on but not when it isn't.
I suspect there is nothing complex about his installation (port forwarding etc).
We have details of his external IPs which are being checked to make sure it isn't blocked, as per the post below.
Seems odd to me that it appears to be a browser timeout rather than an absolute block.
Any thoughts/help is welcome!! :-)

Simple way to discount/confirm the browser is to install mobaxterm and use wget.

- Yes. Disabling both (Windows Defender and Avast) either separately or together does not help. I've also tried disabling the router firewall, again with no effect.

- Yes. It's rebooted regularly.

- I have not configured port forwarding.

On one of our other servers like this one we had a massive set of queries against one customer's website all coming from Google Cloud servers. Either someone was running an AI agent as it was ignoring the robots no index commands (these stop valid search engines from endlessly trawling), or something more malicious. Anyway, this was another one of these put in huge rate-limiting, automatic IP banning kind of rules. The assault started Thursday evening through to Saturday, when presumably Google told them off.
It maybe that some of our similar rate limiting rules we put in earlier on on this server have caught some of you out. i.e. they are too zealous. This would explain some being affected and not others

I haven't. Maybe your IP had got caught up in the banned list, certainly would be consistent with what you're seeing.
