 Windows Security - Bromptonaut
Did a reinstall of Windows (10) to give my Lenovo travel laptop some disc space headroom.

Since then every time I log into a site or to the wifi on current campsite windows security demands my log in PIN.

Guess there must be a way to switch this annoyance off but I'm beggared if I can find it.

Anyone more clued up who can point me in the right direction.

Which browser, and is the WiFi sign on through a web page? (I suspect it is).

Have you got another browser you could try (to narrow it down)?

If you're on Edge got to edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings and see what's set for Autofill passwords and passkeys (expand it to see whether its set to Autofill passwords and passkeys which I think would cause that. Even if its set right, toggle it off, reboot, toggle back on might help.

If you're on Chrome go to chrome://password-manager/settings and turn off Use Windows Hello when filling passwords (there's probably similar settings in all browsers)

If those don't work try disabling any extensions which do password stuff.

Browser is Chrome and yes, campsite wifi log on is through a web page. Seven euro a week for pretty poor connection.

No mobile signal at all on Orange FR.

Will have dig when I've got a minute.

Is this cured?

No. I'm living with it for now.

Most sites - this one is the outlier - allow users to stay logged in.

The campsite wifi generates a log in prompt which opens in Edge and bypasses the PIN process.

I'll sort it out when I'm home and not messing about on dodgy French wifi.

My phone, on Lyca, was having a problem roaming which, after a bit of research, was cured by putting it in airplane mode which forced it to pair with a French network. I can now use my hotspot.
