Went with a friend for a blast on the bikes this afternoon - a mere 80 miles round trip to the tip of the Llyn Peninsula - cracking roads, especially as we took an alternative route back through Nefyn - crisp autumn day, Penbrokshire clearly visible from Uwchmynydd - very fast roads on some bits of the peninsula, recent improvements in the Clynnog have provided a beautifully graded road good for a 100 mph safely (not that we did of course) - the RT had its suspension tightened up to sports setting which meant it could almost handle like a sports bike - Gwynedd council have thoughtfully provided speed humps with gaps for two wheelers...
All in all a crisp autumn run - handlebar and seat heating engaged.

Shame you didn't also correct the capital 'A' in autumn, it's an ordinary noun, so the 'a' is lower case, same as cat, dog, kettle, table, caravan, motorbike, road, grass, etc, etc.
Easy mistake to make, because days of the week and months are proper nouns, and take a capital - Saturday, October 16.
Now back to motorcycling...

Had a meeting of our motorcycle club officers this weekend up on the Long Mynd in Shropshire, based in a youth hostel. Rode up on the Sportster Saturday morning, back this morning; both rides thoroughly enjoyable, surprisingly I didn't feel the cold so much today although it was minus 2 degrees when I left.
Due to the excellent pub next to the youth hostel closing at short notice a few weeks ago (a depressingly common occurrence these days) we'd organised a coach to take us into Bishops Castle for the evening. With a wealth of decent pubs, all with real ale and two with their own breweries, this turned into a thoroughly enjoyable experience, a very friendly and idiosyncratic little town and well worth a visit if you're ever in this lovely part of Britain.

I can't help you there Iffy; there are a helluva lot of Harley enthusiasts in Europe, H-D Club Sweden alone boasts over 5,000 members.

I got the impression it was an annual event.
There were quite a few people on bridges and in lay-bys to watch.
A lot of the riders gave what could best be described as an open-palm 'V' sign with their non-throttle hand as they went past.
We took it as a friendly Norse greeting. :)

It's an annual event called "Hoggin' the Bridge", started ten years ago by a few of the Bridgwater HOG chapter (that's the factory-sponsored Harley-Davidson club for the uninitiated, no relation to my own HDRCGB club which goes back over 60 years) which has grown into a large charity event. Harley-Davidson stopped sponsoring the event after last year; my guess being that they felt it had run its course as a PR generator and they've now concentrated on the Ride to the Wall which of course has a better sympathy factor.... cynical, moi?
I only went to Hoggin' the Bridge once, and haven't bothered since; I spend enough days of the week blasting dowen the M4 in a lorry and then getting stuck in a traffic jam, so the thought of doing it on a Harley holds no appeal for me, especially since from my home in Carmarthen there is no realistic "pretty way" to get there.
It's not exclusively a HOG event BTW, anyone can participate.

BTW I attended Ride to the Wall this year and laid a wreath on behalf of our club. A very moving experience which raises money for a very worthwhile cause.

Had another one today - 90 miles to the Kawasaki dealer, told off for not doing enough miles by the mechanic ! Pussy footed it there with a tail wind, increased revs on the way back, headwind and pretty cold - minute I stopped I warmed up though.
How wonderful a bacon butty tastes though - thoughtfully the dealer has opened a little greasy spoon next door so you can wait in comfort and peruse bike magazines. (and play with the apps on your iPhone !)
RT goes to Motorrad in Chester on Friday - just seen the weather forecast - not pleasant.
