Suzuki Grand Vitara SWB - 20 1.4 Battery readings and replacement - martin aston
Last week my Golf was serviced and the battery was reported as “good” with readings of
12.56v @ 405 EN (A) 63% EN (A)

Today the same place serviced our Vitara and it was reported as “replace battery” with readings of 13.12v @ 400 EN (A) 62% EN (A).

The mechanic had left when I picked the car up so I couldn’t clarify why the Vitara battery might need replacement. They didn’t quote for a replacement so there was no attempt to sell.

Can anyone explain in layman’s terms please why similar-ish looking readings result in different recommendations?

Shopping around an Exide like for like replacement is only about £70 delivered and it seems it’s an old style swap out (no coding to the car). So if it’s needed I am minded to do it myself as I’ve done with other cars in the past.

PS it’s a standard 1.4 Vitara but the drop down doesn’t include that unless I missed it.

I'd suggest that unless it's causing starting problems, then wait and see what happens when the weather turns colder.

If it is a Grand Vitara, I doubt if it will be a hybrid of any sort.
The newest one on Autotrader is 2014

Thanks for comments. It’s not a Grand but the drop down doesn’t seem to offer my exact model. It’s a 2020 non hybrid, 1.4 turbo petrol 2WD manual.

I will keep an eye on it and change the battery if it starts to play up.

The correct battery is an 027 stop/start . My 1.6 vitara from 2018 is still on its original battery.

Thanks, that’s what’s fitted, an Exide. It’s also surprisingly cheap as it’s only an EFB battery, not AGM.
