Anyone fancy a punt for a virtual Fiver on how long it takes for the selling dealer to sell my ex-Korando. The one I traded it into passed it on about 10 days later.
It went on sale at a second trader end of may.. 2021 white 30.000 miles on autotrader.

We traded my wife's 07 Merc CLK cab over a year ago for a BMW M235i cab. The dealer is still listing it (at a crazy prcie that hasn't budged since day one). He did say he had a soft spot for CLKs. Takes all sorts I suppose!

The reason I put up the post is that from when I bought it, I had not seen another on the road in Essex, and perhaps only 2 or 3 UK wide actually being driven, and since the dealerships are few and far between and according to some reports KGM only managed to sell about 1500 of all their models last year.
Would I buy one now? No, but apart from 1 early glitch it never let us down. Youngrovergirl misses the seats a bit, but is happy with the replacement.

Looks like I "saved" a few hundred quid more in changing it as well as the near double fuel economy of the Suzuko S cross.
Korando was due a near £500 5th year (dealer) service plus probably a clutch assembly (beginning to slip) with the associated costs of that plus a few other bits that were not really essential..
Still I do miss that lovely clear dashboard and analogue controls.

But was asked 'what did it cost' presumably new 5yrs ago? Can't work out cost of ownership (aka 'depreciation') and cost per mile till know this.

It was VERY comfortable and did the job i wanted it to.

Presumably with the new tyres, servicing and a new clutch and new wiper blades and the retouches to the paintwork it'll serve some one else for a while.
Anecdotally on one of the facebook forums the clutches last... about.. 30000 miles.

Yes it does seem a little bizarre, the obsession with analysis of running cost, cost to change etc.
I've seen it said elsewhere that few would do a cost/benefit or depreciation analysis on e.g. a new kitchen, often costing more than a car these days, or a conservatory or other major household spend.
OTOH it is essential to know where your money is going and whether your spending is within your means, and make sure you are not spending more than you can afford on anything.

The S Cross is "small enough" for youngrovergirl and is seating wise satisfactory for me.

Well, it was you who sparked my curiosity with your question 'What did it start at and what did you get for it?' An interest in the costs of motoring is hardly an 'obsession'. Very few are in the fortunate position of being 'not concerned with how much it cost' !

Yes ! The dealer now doing Ssangyong is a wasted day away.
I had the money to spare to change the vehicle so I did.
Slight bonus The S Cross is acceptable to me, (it is growing on me slowly..) Witness on here and previously on HJ the satisfied owners. Thanks to Paul for his input too.
.SWMBO likes it as it "feels small enough" for her and the fuel consumption is way better. Blodwen the dog finds it easy enough to get into as well.

Ho ho.. I can assure you that an honours degree in MM is necessary for contented W12 ownerhip, although actually it's the elderly air suspension that has at last necessitated its application. I recently paid £3k....(plus vat- aaarrghhhh) to replace the WABCO compressor and an expired airbagged strut. I converted this into what some people pay for car ownership for just one year - £300pcm.

I think we may be talking at cross purposes here.
Early on I asked Orb "What did it start at (I meant at the selling dealer) and what did you get for it (I meant at trade in)" to put some context into the thread where you asked what people thought your car might sell for, and make guessing easier.
John, you then mentioned cost of ownership, possibly misinterpreting what I was getting at.
In response I mentioned how I’d seen elsewhere people commenting about not looking at cost of ownership of other household major purchases so why do so for cars. With hindsight using the word obsession was probably sloppy and open to misinterpretation but no offence was meant, and we’ve usually been fairly relaxed here around use of English. FWIW I’m “obsessed” with the cost of my electricity!
And finally I didn’t mention W12s anywhere

Absolutely none taken....or indeed perceived. One of the joys of this site (and indeed the old HJ forum) is the almost complete absence of vituperation when there is disagreement.
My, er, enthusiasm re the cost of motoring stems not only from trying to reconcile the conflict between thrift and desire for upmarket cars but also, being self employed, decades of annually counting the number of miles and cost of every expense for submission to my partnership accountant. It was that analysis and learning experience which rapidly taught me the value of keeping ownership pence per mile (aka 'depreciation') well below fuel and maintenance pence per mile, and also what little difference a few mpg here or there made for a low mileage driver like me.
