 Suzuki - Ex-Motability Registering for Dartford Crossing - ORB>>>
Finally got my V5C after 22 days.. Same day as I got the slip for No longer owner of the old car.
In spite of attempting to call Motability and not finding a way to get through the telephone maze..

I did email Motability more than a week ago, but saving taxpayers money is not apparently high on their agenda.

I am unable to register the car to my Dart account or pay for a one off crossing as each time it says exempt.

Any Ideas ?

Presume you know or have checked whether it's in the DVLA Disabled tax class - as, if it is, it is exempt.

Check here www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla

Presumably now you've had a V5 the disabled status is cancelled on DVLA records.

It make take a further period of time for that change to 'percolate' through to DART.

ISTR having something similar with Seoras the Superb which was previously taxed as Disabled.

From the horses mouth.
Open your Dart Charge account (log in)
Go to Account management.
Select Contact Dart Charge
Select General Enquiry
Select Account management.
On the next page in the provide more detail box add your new reg number and an explanation, then upload a photo of the front page of the V5,
Go to next page and check details and add phone number and follow on continue.
Very nice operator from Dart charge explained and talked me through it.
That's after giving a wrong answer on the phone so it would put me through to a human.
Motability don't do anything. You have to request a manual override of teh Dart system.

In the space of 1 hour 2 minutes you've not only answered your own question but also had time to write a useful summary for others.

You're not as useless as you thought you were ORB.

;)

In fact I thought try again, I phoned, waited till the bot got fed up with me and put me through to a human, and one who knew what to do as well.

You're not as useless as you thought you were ORB.. Yes I am..but sometimes even I surprise myself, Just don't tell youngrovergirl.

I think I just waited until the information about Seoras no longer being taxed as 'disabled' found its way to DART.

But then living in the South Midlands, other than going to Chunnel/Dover or CAMC Black Horse Farm, I've very limited scope to need the crossing.

>> Motability don't do anything.

It's nothing to do with Motability - they're just a lease company.

DVLA correct the tax class and eventually Dart's system will catch up. In the meantime you've found the manual over-ride.

Why not just leave it as exempt…..

Why not just leave it as exempt…..
Well, It is only OUR taxes paying for it.

At some point they may well get themselves organised and realise that you owe them a backlog of fees. You will then get a bill plus penalties for not paying previously.
