 Heated Seats - Boxsterboy
I used to think heaters on seats were only necessary on leather seats after an overnight frost. How wrong I was.

I overdid the exercise the other day and strained my back (again). Usually this would mean syas of agony as the muscles gradully recovered. Then the thought came to my mind that heat often helps strained muscles, and so on the daily commute for the last 2 days I have had the seat heater on. Yes, my back got a bit sweaty, but it has definitely eased my muscles.

Was anyone else aware of the medicinal benefits of seat heaters?

Yes:)

Lorries have had heated seats for some years now and after a hard couple of hours trying to hold trailer curtains down against a gale force wind it's absolute bliss to drive a few hours with the heat on.

Tip....if you can't sleep for the pain, go for a drive around.

I agree, heated seats may seem an unnecessary luxury but I think they are great now the colder days are coming irrespective of any pain relief they may offer you.

I once had back pains that were so bad I used to go and drive around in the car with the seat heaters switched on as it was the only way of easing them. After finally admitting defeat and going to visit the doctor, who diagnosed a trapped nerve, he told me it was quite common for people to attempt to treat back problems with their car seat heaters.

Yes, that occurred to me after I posted.

"What's that noise, dear, it's 3am?"

"Go back to sleep, it's only that blinkin' woman lorry driver across the road."

Any relation to that famous farmer?

That was my thought, VX, but I thought some more and guessed it owed more to Dr Spooner than to rhyming slang.

On the other matter, though, my GP sister-in-law assures me there are two kinds of people - those who have 'em and those who will.

[Heated seats, of course. Already got mine - love 'em.]

I like my heated seats if I get caught in the rain and then have to drive somewhere. Does tend to create quite a lot of steam though. The thought does cross my mind that I'm sitting on top of an electric current while soaking wet too...

Heated seats seem to be a very common fitment in Hong Kong, goodness only knows why as it's flippin' hot and humid most of the time and aircon is a necessity. Something about most cars being very high spec because they're incredibly expensive (with import duty) and only the wealthiest people can afford them and then mostly as expressions of wealth.

What is truly weird is seeing well dressed women wearing designer dresses and styled wellies, off piste but I had to comment.....

Mmm - the X1 has heated seats, I do like them these recent mornings, my motorcycle has them - two levels with individual controls for the rear passenger, I haven't used them on the bike, mind you not been cold enough yet.

If you "go" just before you leave the house and drink less water, you'll get "caught in the rain" less often.

Funny you should say that, some people think heated seats make you feel like you've just 'gone' in your trousers.

The heated seats in the CC3 have four levels, I prefer to give it a good blast on level four and then turn the heat off, rather than simmer on level one.
