 Volvo - New Volvo V60 - Robbie34
I collected my new V60 on Tuesday and I'm delighted with it. I have never driven or had an automtic car before and I was a bit apprehensive about driving it. For the first few miles I was feeling for the non-existing clutch. The A49 and M62 were busy but I managed.
I bought my car from Voplvo Motors in Warrington and they were excellent. Good price for my CX-5, and they sorted everything for me, even down to informing the DVLA when I was there that I had sold my Mazda. Volvo have an enormous buraucratic system if you buy a new car from them. I have never had to go through such a process before. Everything was done on line using my smart phone: money laundering, where was the money coming from to pay for my car; do I have a driving licence; is my new car insured.
One drawback was my expensive dog cage was far too big for the V60. I have advertised it in the classified if anyone is interested.

You may already have found the owners forum, but if not it is www.volvoforums.org.uk/forum/technical-topics/s60-v60-18-xc60-17-s90-v90-16-xc90-15-general Helpful people!

I was on that forum with my previous V60. Unfortunately, they haven't kept up with the times with a forum for the V60. I'm a member on the Facebook V60 Owner's Forum.

My log book has just arrived in the post from the DVLA That's only two days. Is that a record?

Might not be a record for the DVLA
BUT
It might be a record for the Royal Mail.

I have been waiting on a letter posted last Friday!

I was discussing that with Mrs O'Reliant recently as she would like an auto for our next car. My solution would be to remove my left shoe (After putting on a fresh pair of socks)when I got in the car till I got used to it.

Not needed, after about 10 miles it all becoimes second nature. Been an auto driver for 11 years. Drove my first manual in Malta after 10 years clutch free, and easily switched auto/manual/auto.

Much cursing at the stupidity of manual hill starts on the streets of Valetta. Gear stick/Handbrake/clutch?, rediculous idea.

Agree with Zero.

Had various auto or 2 pedal hybrid hire/courtesy cars this year and soon adapted. The only one I didn't like was a Vauxhall Grandland.

I've driven four autos in my entire career, clocking up a grand total of about ten miles between them. All "Down the road" drives in friends cars.

I've driven manuals for sixty years and on the odd occasion in an auto, I've always stood them on their nose at the first T-junction. Slow down on the brake, press the clutch!

I don't know whether there is a limit that triggers the money laundry interrogation - when I bought my Swace it was a simple money transfer. However when we gifted money to our son when buying a house, my goodness it was an all out inquisition.

I also bought my first auto since 1985 and I've become quickly used to it and would not get a new manual car going forward. I'm still ok driving my wife's Panda manual except I keep forgetting to apply the handbrake.

There is a limit of £10,000 for cash purchases but the money laundering regulations from 2017 also require the dealer to 'know their customer', hence the detailed questioning.

When I got the Kia Sportage in 2020 I had to jump through the hoops for the PCP, which I paid off quickly.
The short lived Stonic afterwards too. paid off quickly too.

When i bought the Korando I had the money from the sale of the Stonic at 6 weeks and just told my bank who gave me a number to call while at the dealers to collect the car.
When I called, they gave the dealer a 15 minute window to take the payment.
Dealer didn't check anything else except the DVLA website which showed insured.
The Korando, not everyone's cup of tea has been a pleasant surprise. Had it 4 years yesterday. Longest I have evr owned one car..

Happy bunny.
