Glad to see something actually going down in price this year - although I think we already covered car insurance doing so.
House insurance was £271 last year plus £34 back from Quidco, from QuoteMeHappy which is I believe part of, or underwritten by, Aviva.
The renewal was £269 but without the Quidco cashback.
So going through Quidco again I could have had about the same insurance from Tesco for £235 but upgraded it a little to improve emergency cover and increased personal possessions and a single item increase so have slightly better insurance with Tesco for £265 less the £34 cashback (and possibly another tenner off for a Quidco offer which finished yesterday).
The small risk I find with Quidco is that you've managed to do something to dislocate your quote from their tracker and the cashback doesn't track, and you don't find that out for quite some time. I don't use it much especially for small stuff but over the years have claimed a little over £1000 cash back on various stuff.
Nevertheless nice to see something costing less rather than more!!

I think that a lot of people underestimate the value of using cashback websites so good to see your mention of quidco (that I have heard of but not used).
I have been using Topcashback religiously for years, with the biggest sums being on things like insurance comparisons, plus break-down cover in particular. I switch between the AA and RAC annually and the savings against renewal are considerable and with the cashback on top it's positively cheap. I had a preferential premium with the RAC this year plus £80 cashback.
I have no links to them other than having signed up with them as a member about 10 years ago, and their own comparison service for insurance is the only one that seems to reliably pay out. This year they have paid out on one of the cars and the new (to me) motorbike.

I think I vaguely recall reading something about you buying a motorbike. What happened if you had to claim on insurance? Hope you weren't injured.

I think he meant they paid out the cashback.

Thanks for the concern Tom. Robin's right. They paid out the cashback.
The bike is yet to be recommissioned and still building up the confidence to get on it when it is.... :)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I never have an insurance claim with that as it's likely to be painful - I mean physically.....
All the gear bought though, so will be expensive (and embarrassing) to back out now! :)
