Access to the C4P forum/HJ new recruits - James Loveless
As we witness the last days of the HJ BR forum, there are posts over there reporting problems for those members who wish to sign up here.
May I respectfully suggest that this is sorted out sharpish, otherwise a golden opportunity to boost numbers here and take on board some hopefully really knowledgeable and helpful people will be lost?

I think Stephen said sorting the problem with emails wasn't a simple as it seems.
Might it be possible to set up some email functionality via the mods so folks can register.
If that needs more mod time I'm happy to lend a hand.
Yes, I've not usually been involved in approving new users but I believe that's the bit which is broken. Didn't Stephen say somewhere the other day that it's not an easy fix?
I'm guessing it will remain a missed opportunity but I hope not.

As noted on the introductions page some HJ folks, myself included, have managed to register and get accounts up and running.
Don't know if Stephen's sorted a fix if the issue is something random or rather not as simple as all being bounced.
I'm not sure anything has been fixed yet but I'm hopeful that it might be shortly, based on communication with Stephen.
So while the technical issues may be solvable fairly quickly but there is still the Online Safety Act to adhere to. This is being looked at but does anyone with an suitable background have some time to help with going through the documentation in some detail to help us work out what exactly is required (over and above the AI answer I posted the other day) as it is important that we follow the requirements if we want to stay online.
Ok - as you might have seen I have been doing some fixes.
I think I have fixed the emailer now and made myself a new user, validated and enabled on the back end. Smokie - all you need to do is log into the admin and change the user from validated to enabled. Then they can post.
As far as I can see it all emails fine now through Amazon SES, so no more lost emails!
I broke some stuff in the process as I dont have a copy on my mac to test with, so have made the changes blind and just uploaded. So if you see blank pages etc or horrid messages then let me know
In the absence of any other info atm I can't think what to suggest except any that you are in touch with, get them to email smokie_mod at car4play.com (I suppose with their HJ forum name) and if/when it gets fixed or I get adequate working access I'll get in touch.
I've been a member here since around 2013, but haven't posted since 2020. Visit regularly though and may post when a topic catches my eye.
I hope some of the HJ crowd join and are made to feel welcome. I think the motoring and technical threads could benefit from some fresh blood (actually pretty old blood in many cases).

And an act that will do nothing to stop teenagers accessing porn.
